The Time Manager
The Time Manager
Hello, My name is Angel and I am here to discuss and explain my app that I created called “The Time Manager” . The app itself was created to make time management more digital and easily adaptive while we live our everyday lives. I wanted time management to be something digital where the user is able to use personalized settings that allow them to adapt easier to managing time, properly doing tasks, and even seeing their own progress.
What does this mean for the user ? It means that we can use technology to properly manage our time. My application allows users to implement tasks that are needed to be completed and the application also allows you to set an amount of time you wish to take on completing the task at hand. If there are multiple tasks available in the category “To Do List” the tab right under labeled “Progress” allows the user to see what percentile of the task has been done as well as how much time was dedicated to reaching this percentile. This gives a more personal experience to the user because they can see their own recorded progress with just a few taps on their phone which I believe will allow the user to see where they stand with managing their time and what are the opportunities to become better. For example, let’s say a user spends time in their garden but finds themselves having no time for other hobbies or to complete other tasks, the app will allow you to time yourself doing certain tasks while slowly killing the habit of losing track of time itself. The application will allow you to set a specific time you want to dedicate to these particular tasks and ensure you do not go over your time limit by sending a friendly reminder when you have a certain amount of time left which is subject to change because the user can set this up in their settings where they would like a timer reminder when there is a certain amount of time left on the timer. Let’s say this gardening idea becomes a project and you put how long precisely you would like to be done with it, the app will measure in real time how much time and hours you would have to dedicate in a day to successfully finish the project while still keeping track and record of your progress among anything else you have added to the “To Do List” tab.
The application also allows you to personalize the designs within the app, by implementing your own choice of color blocking and background wall paper making the app really feel like it is truly yours. You can change the type of font, the color of the font as well as the color schemes of the tabs and even add live wallpaper in the background of the app suitable to your liking. The application can also serve as a tool to spend less time on social media and other things that the user wishes to spend less time on but how does it work ? allow me to explain !. Apple uses a bar graph visual that allows its users to see how much time they spend on their phone and on certain apps, i took that concept and added on to it by giving users the option of HOW they can see how much time they spend on certain apps. It can be shown in the form of percentage, bar graphs, and even line graphs depending on which visual suits the user best. The app can monitor and record *with permission from the user of course * how much time is spent on the apps the user uses daily and gives suggestions on how much time they should take away from one app to dedicate it to a task. An example of this would be “ spending less time on snapchat will allow you to dedicate more time to gardening, tap here to see how !” after you tap it will show you at what percentage you will be from completing the task if you were to dedicate the suggested time. When the app notices a positive change in behavior when it comes to spending less time on an app that you were spending a lot of time on, the app rewards you with a digital trophy along with unlocking a new wallpaper or having a new color added to your lists of colors on the app. The app called productive habit tracker compares to my app due to the fact that it allows you time your activities and build “good habits” but the app based on reviews makes users feel like they are in competition with themselves, my app would NEVER compare you it would only advise and recommend you based on what you desire based on the personal preferences set up by the user on the app itself. The app keeps track of a streak which might motivate the user but also make them feel down for not keeping the “habit” a streak, the app also does not allow you to personalize your settings with colors and backgrounds suitable to your liking. The app also does not allow you to use live action tab animations for a much more unique experience as we embark on this journey together to manage your time with the time manager ! The feature on Apple can also feel like enough but why stop there ? That is what inspired me to create this app , to create a digital platform where you can be yourself as well as manage yourself. In the real world we can get phone cases any color , we can buy a desktop and have any wallpaper on it same way we can with a smart phone so why not have these same benefits in a app that can help you not only manage your time but also give recommendations that can help you properly dedicate your time.
